In South Tyrol, more than 160,000 people have participated in a massive test from Friday to Saturday at noon. During the “South Tyrol Testing” campaign, a total of around 350,000 people must be tested by Sunday. According to the first provisional results on Saturday morning, 1.3 percent tested positive, the South Tyrol medical company said. However, about ten percent of all participants experienced delays in presenting the results. This happened “because the email address or phone number provided was incorrect or not provided at all,” he said. Affected citizens will now be informed about the subsequent procedure, either by email or SMS, “depending on which information is correct.”
China tested a million
Massive short-term tests were conducted in China after some new infections in the northern city of Tianjin. According to the German news agency dpa, one million people were tested for the corona virus here. The massive tests were carried out in the Binhai port area after five new locally transmitted infections and three other asymptomatic cases were found in a residential area. Since the summer, China has largely controlled the virus with strict measures, mass testing, quarantine, contact tracing, and strict entry restrictions.
