Good start! Sascha thunders the return of Djokovic in the right corner with the right longline.

Zverev now serves against the loss of a set!

He stumbled briefly, but then struck back hard! Djokovic does not allow Zverev to enter the rally and determines it at will! Again he can play the game with a volley in the open corner.

And with another strong serve, Djokovic is saved on debut. He determines the play early and turns the second volley into an advantage.

Forgive the first one. Djokovic serves from afar and the German’s return lands on the net.

Two break balls for Zverev!

Works! Djokovic makes a stop early in the rally, but Zverev ignites the turbo and runs to the ball. Djokovic can only respond with a high ball and Zverev hits the volley down the field.

After all, serves come in handy! An ace secures him 40:15 and after the Djoker’s next comeback, Zverev pushes the Serb into the left corner, so that he can simply complete on the right.

Djokovic excellently manages to play the balls exactly in the corners. The same goes for the short play for Zverev’s second serve, in which he presses the felt ball on the left side of the line. Zverev looks a bit perplexed …

Clean up, Sascha! Zverev takes his time with serve, but then throws it too far and can be happy with the ace.

Pity! Zverev goes into the rally pretty well, but then he doesn’t hit the backhand optimally and puts him behind the baseline. The German fails to get the next serve with a return over the net and Djokovic gets his next service game.

Incredible! This scene will be seen in all the highlights! Zverev and Djokovic are chasing each other across the field and have to get rid of numerous difficult blows. Zverev finally secured the point, but that was world class from both of them!

That was very important! Zverev comes under pressure briefly, but can then make the game with a well-placed swing to the left.

Here comes Zverev’s fist! After a difficult volley, he ended the rally with a great forehand in the right corner.

It’s a good start! Zverev served hard down the middle and Djokovic’s return ended at the net. The next rally is also short: Djokovic can only react inappropriately and hits too long.

Now what, Alexander Zverev? The German has only been able to add two points and now he has to be more decisive in his service game to be able to win at least his first game.

The Serbian is as strong as a bear. He drives Zverev to the right corner with the serve and then puts his next shot exactly to the left on the sideline. There is no chance for Zverev! Secure the game with a moving stop to the left behind the net.

But the Djoker also made a double error early in their own service game at 15:15.

That doesn’t start out well for Alexander Zverev. The German is not in the game at all and gives up his service game with a double fault.

That was close! A counterattack on the net is not enough and Djokovic begins to praise Zverev. That goes just behind the baseline.

Woohoo! Djokovic makes three break balls. Zverev puts him under pressure, he enters the net, but from the left corner the Djoker hits a cross ball that passes the German towards the band.

You have to get there first. Zverev has to go over the second serve and he doesn’t really come under pressure. Djokovic comes to the rally without a problem and the German finally puts a punch behind the baseline. On the next play, Zverev reaches the net, but gets stuck with his ball.

That was quick: with a roaring serve served abroad, Djokovic won the first game. Zverev is still waiting for the first point to be won.

An attractive first rally comes to an end. Zverev wants to beat the Djoker with a long backhand. But Djokovic, who was connected, hits the felt ball at lightning speed and makes an unattainable save.

The last balls of the warm-up fly over the net. Both players return to the bench and are about to start the game. The voltage increases!

Zverev won the toss and decided that Djokovic should have the first service game.

Zverev and Djokovic enter the court and in a few minutes we will experience the first serve.

As Group B has already played all their matches, a semi-final has already been decided: Medvedev will face Nadal tomorrow afternoon. The Russian has another game against Schwartzman tonight, but this is no longer relevant on the table.

The last ATP finals was anything but good for Novak Djokovic: after defeats to Federer and Thiem, the five-time finals winner and current world number one was eliminated in the preliminary round. Zverev reached the semi-finals and had to admit defeat to Thiem there.

Djokovic and Zverev have already met five times, the Serbian won three times. More recently, the two played against each other in the quarterfinals of the 2019 French Open – the “Djoker” clearly won in three sets. Two years ago they met in the final of the ATP Finals; at that point, Zverev won and celebrated the biggest triumph of his career.

Djokovic and Zverev enter their last group match with a win and a loss. Both were able to defeat Schwartzman, but they drew the short glass against Medvedev (each in two sets). Dominic Thiem awaits the winner of today’s game.

The calculation is clear: whoever wins, goes to the semifinals. “It’s the most difficult match you can have here,” said Zverev, referring to the duel with Djokovic.
