It is brutal how the Greens dismantle their candidate who has just been the top candidate after the most successful Vienna elections of all time, and thus indirectly themselves.
Well, that’s the way it is: in the recent and very recent past, we have certainly not applauded all the plans, proposals and demands of Vienna’s Deputy Mayor Birgit Hebein. Rather, the opposite occurs. Without wanting to launch into a great pose of mourning: Less than two years ago, the base appointed her boss. Now, after the best green result in a Vienna election, which brought her home as the top candidate, to be dumped by her own council club, in the foreground of two men who were defeated by the rank and file against Birgit Hebein in 2018, is remarkable. it’s brutal.
This is not how you deal with a “friend from the party.” This is certainly not to be expected of the Greens, who like to point the finger at other Greens, who rose up as an alternative to traditional parties long, long ago. The power, jobs and money of the Greens in Vienna have been lost due to the loss of government involvement. Mayor Michael Ludwig gave preference to the smaller, more educated pink Christoph Wiederkehr. After ten years, the red-green is over.
The revenge of the green officials was terrible. Justice for Birgit Hebein? The election winner was able to secure six new, well-appointed terms (an increase of more than 50 percent) and thus a significant increase in party and club endorsements that abound in Vienna. But she was not allowed to become the club’s director, nor was she awarded the unspeakable but prestigious job of a Viennese specialty called a non-executive councilor. This is called being cared for.
Feminist! Feminist?
Basic Democratic! Feminist! Solidary! The Greens carry these principles before them. Basic Democratic? Feminist? Solidary? The Vienna Greens have flagrantly violated almost all of their supposed ideals. As a result, they have caused serious harm to themselves. Well that could be dismissed as your problem without a general meaning.
But what really weighs more: for politics as a whole, recent events at the Greens in Vienna range from disturbing to disastrous.
