Finance Minister Gernot Blümel’s (ÖVP) budget project foresees a significant disadvantage due to the pandemic. A 7.1 percent deficit of economic output is expected and even that is still fraught with great uncertainties.

Before the budget, the Budget Accompaniment Law is approved, which this year is definitely difficult. Among other things, it contains the pension adjustment for next year with an especially important bonus for low pensions and the new short-time model, with which work can also be reduced by up to zero percent.
