Outrage over Khol-Sager | Nachrichten.at

In an interview about the crown crisis, Khol said: “First of all, Pamela Rendi-Wagner asked him to hang up.” It was about Pamela Rendi-Wagner’s accusations to the turquoise green federal government: the SPÖ leader accuses the coalition of failing to deal with the corona virus.

Representatives of the SPÖ rebelled on Monday. SPÖ Federal Manager Christian Deutsch saw an “indescribable choice of words” and apologized.

The SPÖ women’s chair, Gabriele Heinisch-Hosek, was “horrified.” The ÖVP should not overlook such a “serious derailment”. Heinisch-Hosek described the statement as “verbal violence” and demanded an apology and an opinion from Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP).

“Corona must not give rise to objective criticism dealing with verbal injuries that are also connoted with the threat of violence,” said SPÖ education spokeswoman Sonja Hammerschmid. The ÖVP has to deal with the fact that not only all opposition parties are against school closings, but also most experts and even the traffic light commission itself.

Green outrage too

Green Women spokesperson Meri Disoski also reacts with outrage to Khol’s statements: “This statement is not just a terrifying and completely unacceptable trivialization of violence against women,” she said in a broadcast.

Kohl wants to apologize

Khol himself does not mean his formulation in the sense of a slap in the face, he said Monday afternoon in an interview with the daily “Der Standard”. He said Rendi-Wagner should be criticized. A few hours later, Khol admitted to the “Standard” that his formulation had been incorrect. He wanted to apologize to the SPÖ boss.
