The Vienna capitals took a 2-1 victory on Sunday. At the start of the match, however, the Viennese needed a warm-up.

The Vienna Capitals won their first game in the ICE Hockey League after a two-week Corona break on Sunday at home, 2: 1, and Innsbrucker Haie lost 1: 2. The Viennese won a 14th round match at home Against the Dornbirn Bulldogs, the Tyrolese were defeated in a 15th round match against KAC. League leaders Graz 99ers were also defeated in round 15 in Fehervar 2: 5, VSV lost in round 10 in Bratislava 1: 2 after a penalty shoot-out.

Graz stays at the top of the table

The Grazers remained at the top of the table, one point ahead of the Vienna Capitals and KAC. However, the Caps played two fewer games and are ahead in terms of lost points. Fehervar is two points behind fourth, VSV is still behind Innsbruckers and Black Wings Linz eleventh and last. In the game plan, which was mixed by Corona, the Innsbruck vs. Graz and Bratislava vs. HCB Südtirol games are scheduled for Monday.

The 99ers failed in Hungary in part due to their own assessment of possibilities. Hunter Fejes scored the invited goals at 1: 1 (14th) and Johan Porsberger with the next goal at 2: 3 (26th). After that, the Styrians could no longer move on. The KAC, however, offered a better upward appearance. Manuel Geier brought the “red jackets” to the front (11th), Deven Sideroff tied for Innsbruck (43rd). Rok Ticar scored the decisive goal 4:34 minutes before the final siren.

Vienna Capitals needed start-up time

The Vienna Capitals needed an opening time, Nikolaus Hartl only scored the first goal in the 26th minute in the power play. Ten minutes later, Patrick Peter made improvements. Dornbirn’s goal went in the 48th minute in the power play to Andrew Yogan’s account. “In the first third, the long 28-day break in our game took its toll. We were sloppy,” Caps coach Dave Cameron said. “From the midsection things were better for us.”

In the end, a goal from Patrick Björkstrand in the 48th minute brought VSV equal and justified the hope of a victory. There was at least one point left for the Carinthians.
