ÖFB Cup continues

Austria Klagenfurt was the first team to reach the ÖFB Cup quarter-finals. The Carinthians prevailed Saturday night in a two-club second-division club thriller in the FAC with 3-1 after extra time. After regular playing time, it was 1-1 after a thrilling finish. Darijo Pecirep (88th, 120th / penalty) and Philipp Hütter (95th / free kick) made the decision in favor of the favorite guests.
Marco Sahanek had saved the hosts in extra time with a converted penalty in the 91st minute. Facing the gates, both teams were more concerned about safety in difficult space conditions, so chances were absolutely slim. Klagenfurt’s Marcus Pink missed a penalty (86th) to FAC goalkeeper Belmin Jenciragic. Pecirep’s first goal was the only one that did not come directly from a set piece.
“We wanted to be in the cup next year, we succeeded. That is why we are satisfied,” Klagenfurt coach Robert Micheu said in an interview with ORF. After Lafnitz, the next second division was eliminated. For the WSG Tirol FAC conquerors, however, the cup adventure is over. Due to the terrorist attack in Vienna on November 2, the game was postponed. As well as two standout matches from the 2nd round, which could finally come to an end on Saturday.
Blau-Weiß Linz kept the lead in the Tyrolean regional league team SVG Reichenau / Innsbruck with 3-0, SKU Amstetten only defeated SV Allerheiligen in extra time 1-0. The round of 16 will continue on November 24 (SK Sturm Graz – FC Wacker Innsbruck) and November 25 (FK Austria Wien – TSV Hartberg and First Vienna FC 1894 – SCR Altach). The successful Red Bull Salzburg – SK Rapid and the LASK – ASK Elektra match will not be played until December 16. The WAC – Amstetten and Kapfenberger SV – Blau-Weiß Linz matches are only scheduled.
