The Dornbirn Bulldogs got off to a flying start at the 1992 Steinbach Black Wings. After just 14 seconds, the guests took a 1-0 lead. Andrew Yogan caught the puck in his own third and then made an ideal pass to Latvian Nikita Jevpalovs, who fired the puck safely past goalkeeper David Kickert into goal. The shock of the early goal was long felt by the High Austrians. The guests created even more chances, but without scoring. This was successful over the course of the game, the Linzers 70 seconds before the end of the third, by captain Brian Lebler.
In the middle third it was the Vorarlbergers who started better again. It was only 38 seconds before Dornbirn scored for the first time. Andrew Yogan scored his second goal in the DEC suit. Less than ten minutes later, the American scored another goal. Little came from the locals at this stage, so it was just a little over a minute after Dornbirn’s 3-1 scoreline again. A shot from Austrian forward Kevin Macierzynski went from goalkeeper David Kickert’s shoulder to goal. After that, the game was over for the Linz goalkeeper. The Austrian international managed to deflect 78.9% of the shots. He was replaced by Luka Gracnar. Other highlights were lacking in the remaining middle third.
In the final stretch Linz could barely hurt Dornbirn’s guests and when Ioannis Kaldis scored 5: 1 for DEC in the 53rd minute, the game was finally decided. BWI was then able to cut it down to 5: 2. Brian Lebler scored on power play for the second time that night. The Vorarlbergs put the end back on. Canadian Matt Mackenzie scored a minute before the end to make it 6-2. For DEC it was the fifth straight away game in which they scored. For the Black Wings it was the seventh loss of the last eight games. In the table, Dornbirn climbs to sixth place, Linz is in tenth place.
