In June there was a conflict between a public transport passenger and the security staff of Wiener Linien. The man had violated the crown-related mask requirement at a subway station and was prevented from continuing his journey by three security employees. Whoever rejected the mask went to court and now it’s finally shut down, as the transportation company announced on Friday.
Prevented from continuing
“The Vienna Regional Court of Criminal Affairs has rejected the request of a masked denier to continue the process against three employees of the Wiener Linien security service. This means that the investigation is finally closed,” said a statement from Wiener Linien. Security agents found the man on the night of June 23 without protection for his mouth and nose at the Karlsplatz subway station and informed him of the obligation to wear. Then an argument broke out, the guards finally intervened with physical effort and prevented the person from continuing his journey.
“Inappropriate behavior”
The passenger or his lawyer made the case public in July and wanted to take security to court. According to Wiener Linien, the court has now determined that the employees acted correctly. Due to his “persistent inappropriate and disruptive behavior”, the passenger made it necessary for the security service to intervene and prohibit further travel. To assert this claim, the “use of physical force by Wiener Linien employees” was justified, the transport companies refer to the court decision.
