Hungary, Slovakia, Scotland and North Macedonia were the last teams to qualify for UEFA EURO 2020 thanks to their victories in the play-off finals.

Route A: Hungary – Iceland 2: 1

Thanks to a strong comeback, Hungary is in the EURO for the second time in a row. After Gylfi Sigurdsson’s first goal from a free kick for Iceland, substitute Loïc Négo and Dominik Szoboszlai, for whom it was the most important match of their careers, turned the game around in favor of the hosts.

Statistics: Hungary only missed one of the last 15 home games.

Path B: Northern Ireland 1-2 Slovakia

Slovakia are in the finals for the second year in a row thanks to a goal from Michal Ďuriš in extra time. Juraj Kucka gave the visitors the lead before Milan Škriniar leveled for the Northern Irishmen with an own goal off a Paddy McNair cross. In injury time, Slovakia had a better finish with Ďuriš’s goal in the 110th minute.

Statistics: Northern Ireland have lost their last three home games. The longest negative streak since 2011/12.

Slovakia will face Spain, Sweden and Poland in Group E.

Path C:
Serbia – Scotland 1: 1 (ie 4: 5)

Scotland looked like the sure winner in Belgrade after Ryan Christie’s goal in the first half, but Luca Jović’s header in the 90th minute sent the game into extra time. Despite numerous chances, there was no more goal, which resulted in the penalty shoot-out. The first nine penalties were safely converted, but then Serbian Aleksandar Mitrović missed David Marshall.

Goran Pandev scored the only goal of the game and made it his country’s first appearance in a final. The forward completed a remarkable play early in the second half towards victory in a game with little chance of scoring.

Statistics: With his 36 international goals, Pandev is 20 more than the number two in the all-time ranking, Gjorgji Hristov.

The 16 UEFA Nations League group winners were guaranteed play-off spots before qualifying matches. If you have already qualified through the European Qualifiers, your spot will be awarded to the next best team in your league. If a league no longer has four teams (such as league A), the remaining spots are assigned to teams from another league according to the UEFA Nations League table.
