In view of the high number of infections in Austria, the Crown Commission advises politicians to take additional measures “as soon as possible”, specifically regarding exit rules and entry bans.
At its meeting on Thursday afternoon, the Crown Commission reached the same assessment as the previous week: the risk of contagion has remained very high throughout the country, so the traffic light was turned red for all districts federal states and the entire country, as in the previous week.
The evaluation was carried out taking into account the risk of transmission, the traceability of the transmission chains, the test activity and the use of resources of the hospitals. The next evaluation will take place next week.
Current measures according to the Crown Commission “are not enough”
According to “OÖN”, in view of the dramatic situation of the crown in Austria, the Commission has advised politicians to take additional measures “as soon as possible” to avoid the collapse of the healthcare system. The recommendations were not more specific, but reference was made to exit rules and entry bans in the Covid Measures Law. This is likely to mean that, from the experts’ point of view, exit restrictions, in commerce, in services, in public places or on public transport could still be exacerbated.
The “milder measures to contain the infection” that have already been implemented “would not have enough effect,” the newspaper quoted the decision as saying. 18 of the 19 commission members agreed, only the Carinthian representative abstained, he said.
