The city and the Chamber of Commerce are again helping the Viennese Fiakern in the crown crisis: as in the spring, companies receive 250 euros per horse per month for three months for feed, bedding and regular hoof care said Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) and the president of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce. Walter Ruck on Thursday.
Already in May, June and July, they entered a total of 237,000 euros as part of the “food package”. “Unfortunately, the situation has not improved, so we are helping again with another aid package to the same extent as in the spring,” Ludwig emphasized. The aid package is re-processed by the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, which has created its own point of contact. “We helped together at the beginning of the crisis and we will continue to do so. Because we want this traditional Viennese entrepreneurial spirit to enrich our city even after the crisis,” Ruck said.
There are currently 21 Fiaker farms in Vienna with a total of around 300 animals. Due to a shortage of tourists and strict measures to combat the spread of the virus, the industry is suffering massive drops.
