Apparently the 20-year-old murderer planned to hide in his apartment. Before the attack, he had gathered the furniture as cover.

Viennese will remember November 2 for a long time after a terrorist opened fire at 8pm and shot random passersby and local visitors. At least four people lost their lives as a result, before nine minutes later the 20-year-old was killed by police bullets.

Just over a week later, disturbing new details about the killer come to light. As the APA learned Wednesday, the terrorist had apparently prepared his community housing apartment for a shooting. When special police forces gained access with an explosive charge a few hours after the attack and broke in, they found the furniture attached as a possible cover for an exchange of gunfire.

This allows for two conclusions: either the 20-year-old had prepared himself in the event that his attack plans might be exposed prematurely, or he hoped to survive his attack and wage the final showdown with the police within his own four walls. .

In the apartment itself, emergency services also seized adhesive tapes that the 20-year-old had used to repair his fake explosive belt. Boxes of ammunition that he had fired with a Zastava M70 assault rifle were also found.

It is not yet clear whether the killer acted alone or had helpers among his friends. Suspects arrested in connection with the bloody act vehemently denied it: “This is completely wrong. There is no concrete indication that he was aware of the attack plans or preparatory actions,” said Vienna lawyer Wolfgang Ebner, who represents to one of the suspects. , according to APA. A total of ten men with radical Islamic ideology are currently in custody.
