On Sunday, November 8, 2020, the City of Vienna team and the Vienna Market Office focused on Sunday’s illegal opening. Six teams were deployed in Vienna and 29 companies were monitored.
“In the current lockdown, some companies are again trying to gain an advantage. Not only do they violate relevant laws and regulations, but they also put health at risk,” says Walter Hillerer, director of the Emergency Measures group. In some cases without protection for the mouth and nose and crowded in the narrow aisles of small supermarkets, an entrance stop was even ordered during the operation. A total of 128 reports were presented and 10 terms were given to the board.
Unauthorized trade was found in three companies. “Now administrative criminal proceedings are being initiated against companies and the reliability of traders is being checked,” Walter Hillerer said of the next steps. Among the controlled companies are those that were known to the authorities and that had repeatedly violated the law on opening hours.
