After a mountain hike to Roßkogel in Ranggen municipality, a 31-year-old German living in Pettnau called his wife on Friday around 11:40 a.m. and told her that he would now start the descent from the top. When the man was still not home by 2 pm at the agreed time, his wife tried to reach him by phone several times, but without success.
After a family acquaintance initially searched for the missing person himself and the search was unsuccessful until dark, he made an emergency call. In the course of an organized search, a team from the mountain rescue team was able to find the lifeless man in a steep ravine below the northern ridge of the Roßkogel at around 8:27 p.m.
