FC Liefering’s undefeated streak in the 2nd division ended on Friday night. SKU Amstetten inflicted their first defeat of the season on the “young bulls” who were ineligible for promotion at the start of the ninth round at Grödig with a surprising 3-0. The advantage of the leaders of the table is still four points. Austria Klagenfurt had to be content with a 1-1 draw in the GAK due to a late goal conceded, but nevertheless became the first to follow Liefering.
The Carinthians were lucky with the opening goal at the Merkur Arena. GAK right-back Josef Weberbauer faked an Oliver Markoutz cross that was pretending to be a cross into his own goal (13th). The guests could have closed the sack, but could not refill. That is why it remained exciting and was in the air shortly before the break with a pate header from Perchtold (45 + 3) and in the second half of the equation. Martin Harrer put a volley from the best position near the goal (73). Slobodan Mihajlovic did his job better, securing a points win for his fifth-ranked team in the 90th minute with a sovereign finish.
As in the 1-1 draw at Kapfenberg, Klagenfurt lost points due to a late goal conceded. Only one of the last four games could be won. Lafnitz (Saturday at Dornbirn) and Blau-Weiß Linz (Sunday at Steyr), tied on points with Klagenfurt, have a chance to advance to second place at the weekend.
Horn decides the supposed duel to stay awake
Alin Roman started the first hit of the season for Amstetten in the eighth minute. Christian Lichtenberger (32nd) rose with a halt in the corner before the break. David Peham made the final decision with a conclusion in the 71st minute. The 28-year-old forward was right in the ninth game for the ninth time. With that he moved a little closer on the Blau-Weiß-Linz-Goalgetter league shooting list Fabian Schubert (11).
For Amstetten, after five draws and three losses, it was a big break that included a jump to twelfth place. Liefering lost for the first time after six hits and two draws and was left without a goal for the first time due to lack of efficiency and lack of luck. All of this happened without coach Bo Svensson, who was unable to be there due to a positive corona test that came out Thursday.
The FAC improved to sixth place thanks to a 2-1 home win against Juniors Upper Austria. In the fight to stay in the league, SV Horn scored “Big Points” with a hard-fought 3-2 at the Waldviertel against the Rapid Amateurs, who were just 15th.
