He was caught red-handed Thursday night after setting four wastebaskets on fire. As it turned out, the suspect is currently in quarantine due to a Covid 19 infection, police reported.
During his interrogation, the detainee not only confessed to those four fires on Thursday night. He also admitted six more since September. In a fire on September 3, flames spread to two apartment buildings, injuring two people. As a reason, the young man stated that he had started the fires so that he could put them out himself later with a respirator.
The estimated material damage is several tens of thousands of euros. The defendant is denounced not only on suspicion of various arson but also for premeditated exposure to communicable diseases.
