The Austrian handball men started today in Graz against Estonia in qualifying for the European Championship and expected a successful start despite some failures. The locals had a bad time in the first half. After a weak opening phase, Austria were early 2: 5 behind, but then turned the game around in no time and took the lead with 10: 6. However, the Estonians did not give up and fought until the break. At 4:16 p.m. the sides were changed.
In the second half, the Austrians acted much more concentrated and separated step by step. At the latest after 27:23, shortly before the end, the match was decided, although Estonia went back up to two goals. In the end, the Austrians celebrated an important victory by 31:28 at the start of EM qualifying. The second game against Bosnia continues on Sunday.
