Seitenstettengasse has already been a terrorist crime scene

In 1981, a terrorist squad attacked the synagogue at Seitenstettengasse. An excerpt from the previous attacks in Vienna.

The attack in central Vienna is one of the worst terrorist attacks in recent Austrian history. And it is the second attack that occurred in Seitenstettengasse: in 1981, a Palestinian terrorist squad attacked the synagogue and killed two people.

Terrorist acts with fatalities are quite rare in Austria. The attacks with the most serious consequences so far have been the far-right pipe bomb attack in Oberwart, in which four gypsies were killed in 1995, and the series of letter bombs also carried out by neo-Nazi Franz Fuchs, as well like the Abu Nidal group’s attack on Vienna airport in 1985, which left four dead and 38 wounded.

There is no official list of terrorist attacks in Austria by the Ministry of the Interior. An excerpt from the University of Maryland Global Terrorism Database.
