A night-out regulation applies from Tuesday. Between 8 pm and 6 am you are encouraged to stay home. What is still allowed?
New Corons measures will take effect in Austria on Tuesday 3 November. Part of it: curfew. Leaving the private apartment between 8 pm and 6 am is only allowed for the following reasons:
1.Avoidance of immediate danger to life, limbs and property.
2.Supervision and assistance to people in need of support, as well as the exercise of family rights and the fulfillment of family duties.
3.Covering the basic needs of daily life.
Four.Professional purposes, if necessary.
5.Stay outside to relax physically and mentally.
What can you buy
Shopping is largely a thing of the past when there is a late night closing. Most of the grocery stores are no longer open anyway. However, some things can still be bought because they are sold at gas stations or pharmacies. “Today” it says what is allowed and what is not.
Interior Minister Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) has already reacted harshly to the new crown rules: “Everyone who comes across a beer in the evening will be denounced.”
If you want to go shopping after 8pm, you must use common sense. Much is already derived from the regulation. Anything that serves to “meet the basic needs of daily life” is allowed. So food shouldn’t be a problem. So if you don’t have milk at home, you can get it at the nearest gas station (supermarkets are already closed at this time). Or cakes and water.
The same applies to pharmacy drugs. If the pain appears at night or you have to pick up a prescription, it shouldn’t be a problem. Aspirin, cough syrup, and the like will not be a problem.
What could cause problems
As Nehammer has already warned, buying alcohol is likely to be problematic and could lead to ads. Beer, brandy or wine: “let it be for the night” is the motto. The purchase of a chocolate bar while taking a walk for “physical and mental relaxation”, which is allowed, will only be sanctioned when the regulation takes effect on Tuesday.
Up to € 1,450 fine
According to his own statement, Interior Minister Nehammer has instructed the Director General of Public Security to “severely punish” violations of the new regulation. Especially at the beginning of the second confinement, the police should show a massive presence in the streets. If you break the night curfew, you can expect fines of up to 1,450 euros.
