On Sunday, 1,948 were in the hospital because of Covid-19, 291 of them in intensive care, the Ministry of Health and Interior announced. 4,956 were reinfected in one day.
This means that 145 more people had to be hospitalized within 24 hours; the number of intensive care patients increased by 26. 1,130 people have died from or from SARS-CoV-2 infection since the outbreak of the pandemic in Austria (as of Sunday, 9:30 am). From Saturday to Sunday, there are 21 more people.
According to this, 39,415 people are currently suffering from a coronavirus infection. So far, 109,881 people have been infected and 69,336 have recovered.
Most of the new infections in the last 24 hours occurred in Upper Austria with 1,198, followed by Vienna with 871 cases. There were 734 new infections in Lower Austria, 528 in Styria, 474 in Tyrol, 398 in Vorarlberg, 349 in Salzburg, 244 in Carinthia and 160 in Burgenland.
So far, 2,232,735 tests have been carried out in Austria, most of them in Vienna. In the last 24 hours there were 28,742 in all of Austria. The Austrian federal government expects the situation to ease through the second lockdown in 10 to 14 days.
