Instead of the announced 15,000, only 200 protesters against the crown measures gathered on Saturday at Heldenplatz in Vienna. The demonstration was quiet and there were only two reports.
A demonstration against the crown measures at Heldenplatz in Vienna, registered for around 15,000 people, only drew about 200 participants on Saturday afternoon. The rally was silent, said police spokesman Marco Jammer at the request of the APA. The organizers called several times to maintain a safe distance and wear masks. At the moment, there were two announcements under the Covid-19 Measures Act, Jammer reported.
Police prepared for demonstration
The police had already screened the groups on the way to the rally in advance and showed their presence. On the national holiday, numerous violations of the Covid 19 Measures Law were recorded during a demonstration against the crown measures in central Vienna, but the meeting did not break up. The police and the Vienna Health Authority (MA 15) transferred responsibility to each other. For Saturday’s demonstration it was agreed that an MA 15 expert in the police task force would assess the situation at this time.
