The government is also apparently considering night-time exit restrictions to control the spread of the corona virus in Austria. As reported, more than 5,000 new positive findings were reported to authorities for the first time in the last 24 hours, more than ever.
Now apparently only a soft lock and stricter crown rules will help. A night curfew could last up to four weeks, according to the OÖN report. Apparently, it has not yet been determined when it will be applied.
Curfew from 8 pm to 6 am?
By imposing such a ban, Austria could turn to the Czech Republic, where people can no longer leave their homes between 9 pm and 5 am The daily “Kurier” now writes that the duration between 8 pm and 5 am is being discussed. 6 am to avoid private parties, where there have been many infections recently. During this time, according to the report, it should be prohibited to leave the private living space. Of course, there should be exceptions. These are established in the Covid 19 Measures Law and have been known since spring. At that time purchases were allowed (these naturally cease to exist at night), jobs that cannot be postponed, walks “for physical and psychological recovery” and assistance with other people.
The Chancellery is silent
The Federal Chancellery has not yet ruled on a possible exit restriction at night, and is still following it. You don’t want to participate in speculation until the press conference. According to the information in “Today”, the “virological quartet” (Kurz, Kogler, Anschober, Nehammer) should appear. An official confirmation is still missing. However, one thing is for sure: The government will begin its talks on Friday about the planned new corona measures, which will be announced on Saturday afternoon. It is also quite possible that there is still a fight in the green-turquoise coalition for such a drastic cut in people’s private lives.
Talk about tightening the crown
In any case, a meeting with the main social partners is scheduled for Friday; tomorrow there will be a meeting with the opposition club bosses. Later there is also a conversation with the governors of the federal states.
It is not yet clear what measures will take effect from 2 November. There will not be a complete lockdown as in spring. Government circles say the restaurant’s closure has yet to be finally decided. But a night curfew is being discussed.
