The new regulation, which goes into effect tomorrow Friday, will allow people from all regions of Austria to return to Switzerland without quarantine requirements, according to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Vienna and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).
In the future, the Swiss Federal Council (government) will only include states and territories in the risk list whose incidence of 14 days per 100,000 inhabitants is 60 higher than the incidence in Switzerland. The limit is currently 822, as announced by the Auenamt to the APA. Of the neighboring countries, only a few regions of France are now on the Swiss Red List. Austria, for its part, classifies Switzerland as a country with a “high security risk” (level 4), but there is no travel warning.
Measured in terms of population, Switzerland, with around 8.5 million inhabitants, currently has the highest growth rates of new corona infections. On Wednesday, Switzerland and the small Principality of Liechtenstein together recorded 8,616 new infections in 24 hours. To contain the second wave, the Federal Council again tightened the measures, discos and dance halls were closed, bars and restaurants can only open until 11 pm and the requirement for masks is expanded.
