The situation of the crown in Austria is reaching a critical point. With the exception of seven districts in Carinthia, almost the entire country could have the highest alert level. Therefore, the federal government should discuss further measures, making the “standard” at night. The “Salzburger Nachrichten” (SN) reported a “blocking light”, similar to that of Germany.
According to the “standard”, the long red switches should have been discussed at a preliminary meeting for the traffic light commission. All of Austria, with the exception of seven districts of Carinthia, will be colored red. For the first time, entire federal states would be set to the highest corona warning level, which should result in new measures. But there is also a general red card for all of Austria.
“Blocking measures”
The Salzburger Nachrichten (SN) reported in the evening of “blocking measures” that government circles said should be taken. The main goal is to secure intensive care beds. The exact form of the measures is still being negotiated.
According to information from SN, the restrictions should not be as drastic as in spring. One would target Germany. In our neighbors, the measures will be toughened as of November 2. France is imposing a new blockade since Friday (we reported).
Short and Co appear in front of the media
The federal government invites a round with experts on the resource situation (intensive capacities, note) in Austrian hospitals on Thursday afternoon. Meanwhile, the sharp increase in the number of coronavirus patients has raised fears in some federal states that capacity limits will soon be reached regionally. In four weeks, the number increased from 88 to 224 patients in intensive care on Wednesday.
On the government side, Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP), Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler and Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (both Greens) participate in the meeting. The statements are scheduled for 2 pm at the Federal Chancellery. SALZBURG24 will report LIVE.
