Surprising test results in Wachau: Four months after an antibody study conducted in June in Weißenkirchen (Krems district), antibodies to SARS-Cov-2 were still found in 94 percent of those tested. This study gives Austria hope, which means that it is virtually impossible for these former corona patients to become infected again.

Antibodies were found in 102 of the 884 study participants in Wachau over the summer. These were tested again as part of a survey by the Danube Krems Private University (DPU), it said on broadcast Wednesday.

“One can expect lasting immunity”

“This suggests long-lasting immunity and gives hope about the effectiveness of the Covid 19 vaccination programs expected next year,” said study director Ralf Braun. Both the Ig- (Immunoglobin, note.) -G long-term antibodies as well as IgA titers remained “surprisingly constant”.

In some cases, long-term IgG levels are even said to have risen, added DPU Director Robert Wagner. The results of the T cell research are still pending.
