FC Red Bull Salzburg just lost a sensation at Atlético de Madrid in the second game of the 2020 Champions League (match report >>>).
The Austrian double winner is sold dearly in Madrid, but at the end of the day he had to accept a narrow 3-2 defeat.
Thus, the “cops” also left the opportunity to position themselves well in the race for possible promotion and temporarily move to second place in Group A.
LAOLA1 analyzes the performance of all the players in Salzburg and distributes the marks (1 = very good, 2 = good, 3 = satisfactory, 4 = sufficient, 5 = insufficient).
CICAN STANKOVIC – 90 Minuten – Note 4
In Llorente’s 0: 1, Stankovic got his hands on the game, but the long-lasting shot slipped from the ÖFB goalkeeper’s hands and into the goal. With other Atlético chances through Felix and Llorente, Stankovic was lucky that all shots missed the goal or the crossbar. With a shot from Koke in minute 73 he was able to stand out, with the rest of the goals he had little left.
RASMUS KRISTENSEN – 90 minutes – Note 3
The Dane moved into the “Bulls” starting lineup in place of Albert Vallci and delivered a solid performance. Defensively, Kristensen rarely let anything burn out on his right defense, and he was always there on offense, though not as often as his colleague Andreas Ulmer on the other side. When he was at the front, his crosses and crosses were rarely crowned with success, the same applies to his final attempts.
OTHER RAMALHO – 90 Minutes – Note: 4
Like his teammates, Ramalho was a bit shaky at first and picked up a yellow card after a foul on Luis Suárez. With occasions in the first part of Felix and Llorente, he was like his companions too sleepy. As for centers and long balls, the Brazilian was mostly sovereign, when he conceded two goals in the second half, like his teammates, he was always a step late.
MAXIMILIAN WÖBER – up to minute 63 – grade 3
Like his teammates, Wöber seemed a bit overwhelmed at first, but after taking off and tackling Llorente after a quarter of an hour, he found the game relatively quickly. The 22-year-old looked a bit more stable compared to the next man Ramalho and got involved offensively too. After a good hour, his workday ended due to injury.
ANDREAS ULMER – 90 minutes – Grade 2
The captain of the “Bulls” was one of the most offensive players in Salzburg, especially in the first half. In the second half he also prepared the interim leadership in an exemplary way. His dangerous advances always brought some life to Mozartstadt’s game, but they also opened holes on defense. When Atlético was dangerous, the attacks were mainly on Ulmer’s left side.
ENOCK MWEPU – 90 minutes – Note 2
The Zambian was called up again today by the right wing, where he delivered a strong game, did not hide in duels and at the same time always had a brilliant idea on offense. This was also the case for the Bulls’ first interim goal, when Mwepu threw a brilliant long pass to Ulmer, who was supposed to set up the goal. Mwepu remained one of the most striking and scathing salzburgers until the very end.
ZLATKO JUNUZOVIC – up to minute 63 – grade 4
Following his brilliant performance in the match against Lok Moscow, the former ÖFB player’s performance curve against Atlético de Madrid experienced a slight decline. Junuzovic worked hard, but mostly he looked pretty unfortunate, especially on offense. He was also a bit unlucky defensively when he was unlucky when Marcos Llorente put the ball directly into the barrel shortly before the 0-1. In the 63rd minute it was over for him.
MOHAMED CAMERA – 90 Minuten – Note 3
As against Lok Moscow, Camara was allowed to form the center of the “police” against Atlético de Madrid together with Zlatko Junuzovic. The 20-year-old Mali was very active and especially present in the duels. Like his central colleague Junuzovic, he was very little offensive, but from a fighting point of view, Camara’s performance was very respectable.
DOMINICAN ROOMS – 90 Minutes – Note: 2
With his important draw just before the break, he gave life to his team and also hopes of victory. Like his colleagues, Szoboszlai’s performance before that was pretty mediocre. The Hungarian made up for it with a very dedicated performance in the second half. Every time Salzburg caused danger in the second half, Szoboszlai had his legs in the game.
MERGIM BERISHA – 90 Minuten – Note 2
Surprisingly, Mergim Berisha was preferred in the Bulls’ starting XI over Sekou Koita. Even in a slow first half, the German was one of the most conspicuous players. When Szoboszlai tied, he was the last bull to have his feet in the game and when he scored the first goal shortly after the restart he also showed his nose for the goal. Berisha didn’t have many other opportunities. Overall though, the forward made a very helpful appearance for the team.
PATSON DAKA – up to minute 30 – grade 4
A very unfortunate day at work for Salzburg’s number one forward. After just under half an hour, Daka was injured after an action without the influence of an opponent. Before that, like his colleagues, the attacker acted quite harmless at this initial point in the game.
SEKOU KOITA – from minute 30 to 84 – grade 3
After Mergim Berisha was given preference in terms of starter XI, Sekou Koita’s workday started earlier than expected after Patson Daka’s injury. As always, Koita was very happy to run and was able to provoke dangerous actions, especially in the second half, with some victories on the ball.
MAJEED ASHIMERU – from minute 63 – grade 3
Ashimeru came onto the field after just over an hour for Zlatko Junuzovic and at least he was not in the least inferior to the performance of the former ÖFB team player. The Ghanaian was quickly integrated into the team and was able to initiate some interesting actions by winning the ball in midfield.
JEROME ONGUENE – ab der 63. Minute – Note 4
For the injured Maxmilian Wöber, Onguene took to the field just over an hour. After taking over Onguene, Atlético found some good opportunities in which the Salzburg defense appeared in disarray. When Joao Félix conceded a late goal, he was like his teammates too passive.
