In Upper Austria there were again two deaths from the corona virus on Saturday. An 89-year-old man from the Vcklabruck district died in the Salzkammergut Klinikum Gmunden as a result of his infection. An 86-year-old woman from Linz died of the disease at Kepler University Hospital.
Since yesterday there have been 662 new infections, 3,186 actively infected at 12:00 noon. The number of people in quarantine rose to the five-digit range for the first time at 10,347.
New corona cluster in the Grieskirchen district
A new group of 16 positive students has been discovered at the Waizenkirchen Agricultural Vocational and Technical School (Grieskirchen district). The other cases of falls were all stable, such as a musical rehearsal in the district of Rohrbach with 30 people, including 16 participants and 14 follow-up cases, a football club in the district of Grieskirchen with a total of 40 people (25 participants and 15 follow-up cases) or a meat processing company in Ried district with 160 people. After a crash in a church choir in the Vcklabruck district, there is also a first closure in Upper Austria at the church level. After eleven singers and now four people in his family circle caught the infection after two Sunday Masses, the parish board decided on Friday to close the church and secretariat entirely for the time being and cancel all Masses or events.
Tense situation in nursing homes and elderly
The situation in nursing homes and nursing homes has worsened again: 77 (plus five) employees and 126 (plus 14) residents tested positive for Covid-19 compared to yesterday. Regarding the staff situation in hospitals, the state crisis team emphasized on request that it was stable.
