Total confusion about the crown numbers of the capital Vienna. The city’s crisis team reports 777 new infections, but the Interior Ministry 970.
One thing in advance. The crown numbers for Austria and also for the federal capital Vienna continue to increase rapidly. According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), 3,614 new infections have been reported in the nine federal states since Friday. The city of Vienna medical crisis team reported an additional 777 positive results on Saturday afternoon, but the BMI reported 193 more, or 970.
The BMI returned to the values of Friday
Where do the different numbers come from? According to the city of Vienna, Friday’s values were corrected to 808 cases due to a problem with data transmission, and the late notification to the ministries took place on Friday afternoon. As of October 24, 777 new positive cases have been reported in the last 24 hours. The ministry shows Vienna on Saturday 970, because those 193 positive results that were missing on Friday were opened. Therefore, the following figures are already available for the federal states:
Saturday numbers (BMI)
➤ Burgenland: 101
➤ Carinthia: 84
➤ Lower Austria: 715
➤ Upper Austria: 662
➤ Salzburg: 235
➤ Steiermark: 339
➤ Tyrol: 400
➤ Vorarlberg: 108

As of today (October 24, 2020, 9:30 am), according to the Ministry of the Interior, 78,029 people across the country have contracted Covid-19. 965 people have died as a result of the infection and 56,791 have recovered. There are currently 1,177 people in hospital treatment for the coronavirus, 175 of them in intensive care units.
Why the numbers on the board may differ
The AGES Covid-19 dashboard obtains its data exclusively from the Epidemiological Registry (EMS) and is updated once a day at 2 p.m. The EMS is the official registry, entered by the authorities and the laboratories of the district.
In the Ministry of the Interior, for its part, the figures are recorded during the daily videoconference of the State of Crisis and Disaster Management in the Operations and Coordination Center (EKC). These figures may include cases that are not yet registered with EMS.
