Paula looked at the crafts at the Thalia Bookstore on Landstrasse on Thursday afternoon and bought the card. He got on the tram in the direction of Taubenmarkt. Once there, he wanted to get on the bus. “Suddenly they stopped two men and got in their way. They claimed that Paula had stolen the clay, ”says the mother.
The detectives of an external company that works for Thalía asked her to give them the invoice. “Paula said ‘No’ and wanted to go, but the men got in her way again, so she gave them the bill and the shopping bag,” says the 40-year-old woman. Then the detectives would have pushed the boy to a side street. “Paula didn’t want that at all, but she didn’t see another way out. She was alone with the detectives in the alley, she was crying bitterly and she kept saying she hadn’t stolen anything,” says Linz’s wife. Detectives at the store asked the girl to remove her jacket and searched her along with the backpack. Only then were they convinced that Paula hadn’t stolen anything and they disappeared. “Mom, I’m so scared” are the eleven-year-old girl’s first words.
“I’ll give talks”
“There is nothing to make up for,” says Thomas Zehetner, managing director of Thalia, ON. “It is extremely regrettable and we are very sorry for what happened there. We have been working with the two employees for a long time, but nothing like this has ever happened before. There will be corresponding discussions,” says Zehetner.
“Paula is a brave girl who goes around the world with confidence and loves to shop alone. That value has been taken away a little,” says her mother. She is considering taking legal action against the detectives: “You cannot chase a child on the tram, contact the parents and reach into your backpack.”
