After the introduction of a new weekly mandatory test for travelers to Bavaria, criticism of the Kufstein district is pouring in.

KUFSTEIN DISTRICT (red). The mandatory weekly test for travelers introduced by Bavaria, which will be applied from October 23, 2020, provokes outrage in the Kufstein district on the one hand and calls for exceptions on the other.
Bavaria had changed its entry quarantine regulation on October 23, 2020. From now on, travelers driving to work in Bavaria must be able to submit a negative corona test at least once a week.

ÖGB asks for an exception

This regulation on regular Covid19 testing would also apply to Kufsteiners who travel to neighboring Bavaria because of their work. ÖGB President Philip Wohlgemuth asked for exceptions. “There has to be an exceptional solution. Travelers cannot be asked to work Monday through Friday, for example, and spend Saturday testing, ”says Wohlgemuth.
“Many people from the Kufstein district travel to Bavaria regularly or even daily. We urgently need a workable solution here, also to avoid traffic jams that stretch for miles. Once again we are faced with more open questions than answers. Those who suffer are the travelers to Bavaria. In the interest of everyone involved, we need an exception, ”said Robert Wehr, ÖGB Regional Secretary.
Nor is it yet clear who will bear the costs of the tests. “That certainly shouldn’t be passed on to employees. I really understand a lot about the measures used to contain the virus, but the limit of what is reasonable has definitely been exceeded! Wohlgemuth said. It considers that politics is necessary to enter into proper negotiations with Bavaria.

Ranzmaier: “completely covered”

The FPÖ also criticized Bavaria’s step in a broadcast and called for a “move away from the current crown madness towards an evidence-based approach to the virus. FPÖ member of the state parliament, Christofer Ranzmaier, was outraged and described the new regulation as “pure Chicana for travelers.”
“The fact that completely healthy and asymptomatic people are now being tested on the instructions of our German neighbors makes the bottom of the canyon pop out. After self-reported travel advisories around the world, black-green in the federal and state governments now also allows neighboring countries to mess with the Austrian test strategy and perhaps artificially increase the numbers. Kurz, Platter & Co must take decisive action against such advances, ”demands the Freedom Officer.

List Fritz demands legal certainty

The Fritz list sees the governor of the ÖVP, Platter, in the obligation to negotiate with his Bavarian counterpart and asks for an answer to open questions about mandatory tests for travelers. Here legal security would have to be created for those affected.
“The Bavarian Prime Minister is cracking down on the growing number of infections, but does not provide affected groups of people with any details or legal basis. In the interest of good cross-border cooperation, we hope that the measures will be traceable and legally clear. when they come into force at the latest. It can’t be that I send travelers over the weekend without being able to tell them if and how they will return to work the following week. We reject this policy of scaring people, “says List Fritz. – Club president Andrea Haselwanter-Schneider.
