As confirmed by the president of the Burgenland Football Association, Gerhard Milletich, at the request of KURIER, the province of Burgenland will issue an ordinance this Friday that bans all amateur football in the adult sector in the country.

“As the numbers have soared recently, the state government has decided that amateur football will stop immediately and until further notice,” Milletich said.

Clubs in the eastern league were also affected

Specifically, this does not affect individual leagues, but rather all football clubs. So also the Regionalliga Ost. “Our Eastern League clubs Neusiedl and Draßburg can still play, but not in Burgenland anymore. This is still possible away from home.”

An association in Lower Austria is also affected. As the ASK / BSC Bruck / Leitha stadium is in Bruckneudorf and therefore in Burgenland, it is also not possible to play there.

Specific details of the regulation should follow Friday. For Milletich, however, it is clear: “There will be no more games this year. No one can predict what it will be like in the spring, but for 2020 I am sure.”

As of Thursday afternoon, 351 active corona cases are known in Burgenland.
