The head of the 1870 credit protection association, Ricardo-José Vybiral, criticized the latest government measures, saying that these “were no longer understandable to many.” You miss an “open speech.” Critics are “eliminated very quickly.”
The 1870 Credit Protection Association regularly surveys entrepreneurs. What about the mood in the economy?
Ricardo-José Vybiral: In August he would have responded: Not so bad. At that point we ran our Austrian business check again. In this survey, eight out of ten businessmen said they were affected by the pandemic. Above all, of course, the transport, catering and leisure industries. However, 44 percent still rated the business situation as very good or good. 30 percent of the companies declared that they would make the planned investments this year. At least another 15 percent invested at least to a lesser extent.
So almost half of the entrepreneurs were quite optimistic.
In August, 63 percent of those surveyed were optimistic about the future, there was a kind of summer weather. But sadly, that has suddenly changed.
It was foreseeable that the mood would deteriorate.
