The governments of Navarra and the wine region of La Rioja in the north of the country even ordered the cordon off of the entire area for two weeks. Throughout Spain there are a total of almost 2,000 municipalities with more than 16 million inhabitants, in which, according to a summary of RTVE, restrictions on public life have been ordered.
In the capital, Madrid, with still high crown numbers, and neighboring cities, however, the two-week shutdown ordered by the central government against the will of the regional government ends on Friday. The city is considering the closure of particularly affected urban areas and a night curfew. This possibility was also discussed for the whole of Spain. However, the parliament would have to accept the declaration of the state of emergency, which was considered unlikely.
