Lazio have won their first match in the group stage of the Champions League. Also thanks to Ciro Immobile, who won the match against his ex-club Borussia Dortmund.
Traditional Italian club Lazio Roma knocked Borussia Dortmund 3-1 out of Olimpico in their first Champions League game in 13 years. The hero of the night was Ciro Immobile.
The center forward had a rather unfortunate appearance with the Black and Yellows from 2014 to 2015. Now, with almost no help from anyone, he caused the BVB to bankrupt. Immobile took the lead after six minutes and also secured a 3-1 decision from Jean-Daniel Akpa-Akpro (76th).
There were no signs of moderate cheering against Dortmund on Immobile. The emotions were too strong. “It was an incredible feeling. The club’s first Champions League game in so many years was something special,” the Italian international told SKY SPORT ITALIA.

The 30-year-old praised his teammates for showing great performance and “perfect play.” It was not easy: “We were facing a very tough opponent.”
Immobile does not feel any desire for revenge against BVB. He has an explanation for his problems at Signal Iduna Park: “I always said that I came to Dortmund at the wrong time in my career and during its turmoil.”
Ciro Immobile was supposed to replace Robert Lewandowski at BVB
Immobile switched to BVB in 2014 and will succeed Robert Lewandowski (transferred to Bayern Munich on a free transfer). But he was never really affectionate towards his clubmates. After just one season (10 goals and three assists in 34 games) he went to Sevilla FC.
He only found his way back to top form after returning to Italy. The top scorer of the last season of Serie A (36 goals, record!) He has 127 goals and 35 assists in 182 competitive matches for Lazio.
