Furthermore, from the AK point of view, there is the possibility of “being unable to work for important personal reasons.” If childcare cannot be arranged quickly, there is a reason for the inability to work. Unlike care leave, it is not limited to a fixed number of days per year. The law says “as short as necessary.” That is why a “target value” of up to one week has been set.
Free time for parents when school closes
From the AK president’s point of view, the current legal regulations are formulated too vaguely and thus did not always go into effect in the Corona lockdown. Above all, Peter Eder is more than critical of the lack of legal rights to special care hours: “If parents were prohibited from special care hours, they had to spend their entire vacation quota or allotted time to babysitting until the last minute. ” : “To provide security for families in these difficult times, they finally need a right to paid leave when homeschooling is back on the agenda, and with no time limit.
