With a large-scale operation, the Danish police prevented an escape attempt by Peter Madsen, who became known as a submarine killer. The prisoner was arrested in Albertslund in western Copenhagen after trying to escape, police said.

Danish tabloid media “Ekstra Bladet” and “BT” had previously reported that it was the submarine designer Madsen. This has since been confirmed by the police.

“Ekstra Bladet” also released video footage showing the inventor, who was sentenced to life in prison in 2018. Madsen is responsible for the gruesome death of journalist Kim Wall. In the summer of 2017, he brutally murdered her in a submarine he had built.

The “Ekstra Bladet” footage shows the 49-year-old woman sitting on the grass by the side of the road. Around him you can see several policemen with weapons ready. According to “Ekstra Bladet”, Madsen had left the prison with a gun-like object and is said to have threatened him with a bomb. Therefore, the place of detention is about 400 to 500 meters from the detention center where Madsen is serving his sentence.

Madsen had killed the 30-year-old Swedish wall inside the submarine. The court found it proven that he had sexually tortured her and thrown her overboard after her death.

Madsen also did not admit to the murder during the trial, but did admit that Wall died on board. He admitted that he cut up the body and threw it into the water.

Wall had planned to write a report on Madsen, his submarine “Nautilus” and his rocket experiments. On the night of August 10, 2017, he left Copenhagen aboard the submarine. The parts of his body were later found in Køgebucht, south of the Danish capital.

A television documentary on Madsen recently sparked discussions in Denmark. It is said that he allegedly first admitted to the murder in a secretly recorded telephone interview.
