Hippmann switches to SPÖ – ex-St. Pöltner green turns red

For three and a half years Markus Hippmann sat for the St. Pölten Greens on the local council, after breaking with the party since March as an unregistered party. Now he’s moving to the red camp. At the local council meeting, he will join the parliamentary group of the Social Democratic Party. As the new president of section 10 of the SPÖ, he will also be a candidate for the elections.

“We are strengthening the green letter of the SPÖ St. Pölten”, explains Mayor Matthias Stadler. The SPÖ is already placing great value on creating new high-quality green spaces, and now they want to emphasize more, including on energy self-sufficiency and climate protection. After years as a solo fighter, Hippmann now hopes to “work in a successful team.” Now she wants to support the mayor’s parliamentary group with her expertise in the areas of ecology and sustainability and also bring her experience from opposition work.
