A week after the Vienna elections, exploratory talks began on Monday afternoon. The SPÖ wants to find out which of the three parties in question – Neos, ÖVP and Greens – wants to enter into coalition negotiations. The Neos started the dating series. Matching colors were served in the office of Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ), where the meeting took place, pink Punschkrapferl.
Wiederkehr doesn’t see Neos as a SPÖ toy
The head of the Neos club, Christoph Wiederkehr, accompanied by his deputy Bettina Emmerling and the general secretary Nikola Donig, said before the start of the meeting that the conversation would be open and that the issues of education and transparency that were important should be addressed for your party. Political intersections and the possibility of a “reform coalition” will be explored.
When asked if he doesn’t see himself as a SPÖ toy to pressure the Greens, Wiederkehr replied: “I don’t think so.” From the way he met Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ), he was sure he was going to have serious exploratory talks.
SPÖ can’t be looked at beforehand
From Ludwig, on whose side club boss Josef Taucher and state party secretary Barbara Novak were also there, there were no advance statements. Even after that, there will be no word donations, he said. In any case, the meeting was scheduled until 7:00 p.m.
Tomorrow Tuesday there will be an exploratory discussion with the Greens, also in the afternoon. The next day, Wednesday, it is the turn of ÖVP. Ludwig had emphasized beforehand that the order had nothing to do with his preferences regarding the future government partner, but was only due to scheduling reasons. The SPÖ wants to make the decision with which party the coalition negotiations will take place in the next few days.
