The head of the FPÖ, Norbert Hofer, cannot understand the government’s decision to toughen the corona measures for the events and accuses Turquoise-Green of “extending the crisis.”
On Monday, the FPÖ was extremely dissatisfied with the recently announced tightening of crown measures by the federal government. The Austrians “are no longer boiled, but cooked,” party leader Norbert Hofer said in a broadcast: “Everything is heading towards prolonging the crisis, and the black-green federal government bears full responsibility for this endless cycle of suffering.
Hofer demands an evaluation of previous Covid measures
Hofer saw a contradiction between infections predominantly in the private sector and escalations in the public sector. “The argument of the federal government is completely illogical. Even measures in the western federal states, such as advancing the curfew in catering establishments, have not contributed anything on the basis of the evidence. Now, the noose is tight on the catering trade so that it is no longer profitable for this group and they are not even opened ”, said the head of the FPÖ.
In this context, Hofer condemned the move in Salzburg to quarantine an entire community with Kuchl. “Such invasions of civil liberties must be resolutely rejected and politically questionable in terms of democracy,” he said. He also criticized the fact that there was no factual assessment of the above measures. Austria must learn from Sweden and not from failed countries.
Many detailed open questions for FPÖ boss
Hofer emphasized that the economy and the job market now mainly need security. At Monday’s press conference, the federal government did not present the ordinances necessary to implement the measures. But there are many open questions of detail. Just think of the Christmas markets, which the FPÖ president suspected could not be held.
