As he did not want to follow the instructions of Wiener Linien Security, three security guards beat him and fixed him. Video recordings should be evaluated and clarified the incident.
There are accusations of racism against the security guards of Wiener Linien. A dark-skinned man who was apparently not ready to put on the prescribed mouth and nose protection was said to have been pushed for several minutes at the Westbahnhof subway station. This was reported by the ORF program “Vienna Today” on Sunday evening. Wiener Linien CEO Alexandra Reinagl rejected the accusations of racism and saw correct procedure.
Witnesses filmed the incident with mobile phones. Three security officers pinned the man to the ground. According to Reinagl, this was preceded by a long conversation. The man did not want to put on a nose and mouth protection or leave the station. A physical use would only occur if security guards were attacked and had to protect themselves or if a person had to protect themselves, the manager of Wiener Linien told “Wien Heute”. The station surveillance cameras and body security cameras now need to be evaluated and clarified.
