First on the World Cup podium and then right at the top: Lucas Braathen left the competition on the Sölden Giant Slalom behind with a second bombastic race and celebrated his first victory among the “greats”.

It has been no secret for a long time that the next big talent is developing in Norway. Lucas Braathen won European Cup races, won medals at the World Junior Championships and was fourth on the World Cup podium at the Ganslerhang in Kitzbühel. Now the 20-year-old has won his first World Cup race. Braathen had a solid first run followed by a brilliant second run.

Despite a serious mistake, the Scandinavian, who actually wanted to become a footballer because his mother is from Brazil, was 5 hundredths of a second faster than Marco Odermatt from Switzerland. The Swiss can also look forward to third place from Gino Caviezel (it’s his first place on the podium). The mood between the hosts is completely different. The best Austrian to start in Sölden is Stefan Brennsteiner, in 17th place.
Points on Mölgg’s comeback
Manfred Mölgg celebrated a solid comeback. Enneberger competed for the first time after his severe knee injury and scored some points at the World Cup in 21st place. Nonsberg Luca De Alpiprandini (10th) was the only Azzurro to land in the top 10. Giovanni Borsotti finished the race in 13th place. Roberto Nani (23rd) also finished in the points.
