SÖlden (dpa) – Following the women’s number zero, the men have the opportunity to score the first points of the German Ski Federation (DSV) in this winter of the World Cup on Sunday.

Alexander Schmid enters the second round at the Sölden giant slalom, 0.93 seconds behind Swiss leader Gino Caviezel (1:15 pm / ZDF and Eurosport). Stefan Luitz was 23rd (+1.75), only Fabian Gratz (40./+2.90) did not reach the top 30 of the DSV trio.

It’s the thrilling race on the Rettenbachferner, predicted by German Alpine boss Wolfgang Maier: After the first race, the 14 fastest riders are less than a second apart. After a fall, the Norwegian World Cup winner from the previous season, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, is no longer there.
