A 31-year-old woman is said to have killed her three young daughters in Vienna-Donaustadt. After a suicide attempt, which, according to the police, caused minor injuries, the woman reported 911 where she had confessed to the crime of murder. The eight-month, three- and nine-year-old girls died from suffocation, according to preliminary forensic medicine. Daughters’ autopsies are to be done Saturday night.
Any help came too late for the two youngest girls. Rescuers found the nine-year-old girl dead, but there was apparently hope that she could be resurrected. The helpers tried to revive the boy for about an hour, but ultimately to no avail.
Emergency call made
The mother made the emergency call around 5:20 am Police rushed to the one-story apartment building near Kagraner Platz. Because the Nepalese woman announced when she called that she wanted to commit suicide, she was first immobilized by the first emergency services. “During an immediate search of the house, police officers found two girls with clear signs of death. A third girl was hospitalized, but resuscitation was unsuccessful,” said police spokesman Paul Eidenberger. The two younger children had been discovered in one room of the apartment, the older sister in an adjoining room.
According to Eidenberger, the woman herself had injuries to the area of her hand that were not serious enough to have taken her to hospital. They were shallow cuts with a knife.
The 31-year-old has confessed during interrogation. Police spokesman Paul Eidenberger said the background could be “in marital and family problems.” Investigators brought the terrible news to the father at his workplace in a restaurant in the Alsergrund district. The 44-year-old man had already been questioned that he was definitely not in the department at the time of the crime.
Expulsion of the husband
The man had not recently lived with his wife and children, had been expelled after an allegedly violent discussion on both sides. From the family environment it was reported that the woman should have been in a psychologically difficult situation since the child’s birth. There was a dispute with the 44-year-old man, apparently there was a separation or divorce in the room. The 31-year-old is said to have feared losing her children in this case.
