Since midnight, stricter measures have been adopted in the state of Salzburg. The Kuchl community is under quarantine.
Crown numbers in Austria continue to increase. More than 1,700 new cases were reported on Saturday. Since midnight, stricter measures have been adopted in the state of Salzburg. The commercial city of Kuchl in Tennengau is under quarantine until November 1. All entrances to the place are controlled by the police. Hotels and restaurants remain closed, only key workers can come and go.
Kuchl is home to a large number of manufacturing companies. Most of the employees are travelers. The Chamber of Commerce advocated a differentiated approach in this regard.
“70 percent of employees are missing”
At the mechanical engineering company UNTHA, 160 travelers will be absent in the next two weeks. “That’s 70 percent of the employees,” explains managing director Alois Kitzberger in an APA interview. “We can maintain production, but we are pessimistic that we will be compensated by the continued salary of the employees in question.”
Mattress maker Elastica had to temporarily stop production due to quarantine. The operator of a car dealership also complained to ORF Salzburg about the situation. Only some of their clients come from the community.
Stores are allowed to remain open. However, they fear that many customers from the surrounding area will be absent. “I am afraid that they will look for alternatives and avoid them in the long term,” a businessman told the APA.
Strict safety rules
Stronger safety regulations apply across the country in Salzburg as well. In restaurants and bars, like in Vienna, registration is now mandatory. Private gatherings outside the home are also prohibited, as are events without assigned seating. The measures initially apply until November 1.
159 new infections were reported in Salzburg on Saturday. Most of the active cases, 314, occurred in Tennengau on Saturday morning, followed by Flachgau with 302 people affected. At this time, 166 cases were known in the city of Salzburg.
