A man has been killed in public in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, near Paris. He was attacked with a long stabbing weapon and decapitated.
After the crime in the late afternoon near an educational institution in Conflans-Saint-Honorine, the French antiterrorist prosecutor was called. Among other things, he is investigating a murder with a terrorist background.
The victim is a professor at a university, a type of school between a German primary school and a primary school. He had shown cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in class on the subject of freedom of expression. On October 5, the school administration received complaints.
The alleged perpetrator was arrested by the Anti-Criminell Brigade (BAC) shortly after the attack in nearby Éragny-sur-Oise. According to the police, he tried to attack the officers and was shot and killed. To be sure, an anti-explosives squad also moved, but found no explosive materials.
Few details are currently known about the perpetrator’s background. The BFM television station reported late Friday that the attacker was an 18-year-old man born in Moscow.
Investigators have created a crisis team, in which President Emmanuel Macron and Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin also wanted to participate that night. Macron also visited the crime scene that night. Speaking of an Islamist terrorist attack, the president said that the teacher was killed for teaching freedom of expression. The attack was aimed at the entire republic. France stands by its teachers.
Just a few weeks ago there was a knife attack in front of the former editorial building of the satirical magazine “Charlie Hebdo” in Paris. Two people were injured; here too, investigators assume a terrorist background.
At the same time, the trial of the alleged helpers of the terror series in January 2015, in which a total of 17 people died, has been taking place in Paris since the beginning of September.
