At the EU summit in Brussels, heads of government agreed on Thursday: “We are in the middle of a second wave,” reported Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz. Currently, the numbers are increasing enormously everywhere. “In some countries a little earlier in some countries a little later.”
A look at the 7-day incidence, that is, the new infections accumulated over the last 7 days, calculated for 100,000 inhabitants, shows that the Czech Republic is currently the most affected in Europe.
Authorities recorded 411 new infections for every 100,000 residents there last week. Belgium (378.2), the Netherlands (271.8), France (194.6) and Great Britain (163.6) are also severely affected.
