Not only Wels-Stadt, but also the Hallein district in Salzburg, as well as Innsbruck-Stadt and Innsbruck-Land in Tyrol were turned red by the traffic light commission on Thursday evening. Vienna remained orange, which sparked controversy.
Even before the traffic lights came on, Salzburg Governor Wilfried Haslauer (VP) had pushed for drastic measures for much of his state. “The development is dramatic,” he said of the corona infection.
The Kuchl community of 7,000 inhabitants is under quarantine and entry and exit into the community is only allowed in exceptional cases. There are also exit restrictions, restaurants and hotels must close, all this temporarily until November 1.

Other measures: The ban on private celebrations outside the living space, which took effect Tuesday in Tennengau, will be extended to the entire state. Additionally, a registration requirement for gastronomy is being introduced across Salzburg, a measure that the state rejected a few weeks ago for data protection reasons. The country also introduces a ban on events if there are no assigned seats. In Tennengau, Flachgau, Pongau and the city of Salzburg, all ninth-grade students will move to classes at home. The Universities of Applied Sciences in Kuchl and Puch are also introducing distance learning until November 1.
The number of new infections in Salzburg has recently risen to around 130 cases per day, and Tennengau is now even the Austrian crown hotspot with a seven-day incidence of 352.8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to : Vienna has about 150 cases). “We see the absolute need to take steps not to enter another lockdown,” Haslauer said.
Earlier, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (VP) had written a letter calling on the federal states to take stricter measures in the fight against the spread of the crown. “The situation is serious.” Kurz appealed to the population to support the measures.
Off for face shields
Health Minister Rudi Anschober (Grne) also noted the worsening situation: “I am concerned about the trend in recent days towards more new infections in the elderly and nursing homes. We also provide our current internal forecasts, which we have made during 14 days little reason for optimism. “
Today is expected an appearance of the highest government, where measures will be announced at the national level. Face and chin guards are practically no longer approved as mouth and nose protection.
