Distance education across the country
To this end, schools across the country will switch primarily to distance learning for a week starting Monday, before the week-long fall break begins. In elementary schools, students in grades 6-9 will be homeschooled; in secondary schools, distance education will apply to all students. The course of the lessons after the holidays will depend on the epidemiological situation, Education Minister Simona Kustec said.
“The situation is dire. The virus is spreading faster than in recent weeks,” warned government spokesman Jelko Kacin. “Measures are needed to contain the virus before it affects our lives further,” he said. Slovenia recorded a record of new infections with SARS-CoV-2 for the second day in a row: After 707 new cases were reported by Tuesday, the number rose to 745 by Wednesday.
The partial block applies to regions where the number of infections in the last 14 days has exceeded 140 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Currently there is the center of Slovenia with the capital Ljubljana, the regions Gorenjska, Koroska, Savinjska, Zasavska, Posavska and south-eastern Slovenia. Without additional restrictions, two regions remain in the east and three in the west of the country.
