Vienna In Austria, with 1,555 new SARS-CoV-2 infections in 24 hours (as of 9.30am), a new high was reported on Wednesday. According to the Ministry of Health and Interior, the number of deaths related to Covid-19 increased by eleven people (four of them in Vienna) to 888 deaths in the same period. This means that the last 24 hours are well above the average of the last weeks and months. The last time there was a similar number of deaths on April 28, 2020 (12 deaths per crown). However, during the crown peak on April 6 and 7, the negative record was set (31 and 29 deaths per crown, respectively).
The four deaths in Vienna are two women and two men between 67 and 84 years old. A 92-year-old man from the Voitsberg district and a 79-year-old from Graz died of coronavirus in Styria. In Burgenland, a 77-year-old man and a 65-year-old man from the Eisenstadt-Umgebung district died at Barmherzigen Brüder hospital in Eisenstadt with or from Covid-19. According to the coordinating staff, both men had previous illnesses. An 87-year-old retiree from the Hallein district has died in Salzburg. No detailed information is available on two other deaths.
